Kanji Learning Software. Runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7.
Type and Skip
Now there is this kanji and you have seen it before but you are not sure.. could mean this or that or something else. Type it in and you know if you are right or not.
There is no grey-area once you type it in - and that's the fastest way to learn. And once you have mastered a kanji, skip it with one keystroke.
Note that Romaji or Hiragana for the Kanji also count as correct answers.
Multiple Choice Tired of typing all your answers? Just want to get a quick overview? Multiple Choice may be perfect for you.
Slideshow
Maybe the most efficent way to learn: lean back and watch the Kanji sliding by.
You set the speed and then you try to identify all kanji in time before the translation appears.
My personal favourite mode. Tough and efficient. Very tough when you try to write every kanji in your mind before the time runs out. (Very boring if you don't stretch yourself a bit.)
Furigana and Romaji. Optional.
Answers will always show all Kanji with Furigana. The Romaji you can turn off completely if you so choose.
Obviously Hiragana or Romaji won't count as answers when you display them.
JLPT Word Lists - Batteries Included 1776 Kanji ships with word lists for all JLPT levels (n5, n4, n3, n2, and n1). All these word lists are preinstalled and available immediately. One click and you can start learning.
Select Multiple Lists When you prepare yourself for, say, JLPT n3, maybe you will also want to review n4 and n5. Just select all the lists you want to learn and let 1776 Kanji do its magic.
Automatically Filter Duplicates There are those words that appear in more than one list. 1776 Kanji worries about duplicates and filters everything so that you need not. Just select what you want to learn and start.
Kyoiku Word Lists, Joyo Word Lists
Alternative to our JLPT word lists there are also preinstalled Kyoiku-Joyo word lists for all school grades. There are separate lists for the Joyo Kanji added and for the Joyo Kanji dropped in 2010 so you can choose to learn following the old curriculum or the new one or both of them combined.
The Joyo Kanji word lists are strictly structured and every school grade word list contains all kanji from that grade, maybe combined with kanji from lower grades, but never kanji from a higher school grade.
Create your own Lists With 1776 Kanji you can create custom lists with your favourite Kanji. Your new lists are fully integrated with the preinstalled lists, you can learn custom and preinstalled lists together, and duplicates will be filtered automatically.
Keeping Score Made Simple
1776 Kanji is designed and optimized to let you learn without limits and without waste. The program keeps score of every answer you enter, of all the Kanji in that particular word, of every success, and every mistake.
1776 Kanji will select the next word for you: not just some random next flashcard but one carefully chosen word taking into account all your previous answers.
1776 Kanji computes the likelyhood of the new word appearing somewhat familiar to you. If the word contains Kanji you know then this new word should be easier to learn. Or maybe it is time to review a word or two before we introduce something new - a good teacher will always be careful not to overwhelm her students with too much material at once.
1776 Kanji can keep that precious balance even when you feel ambitious enough to learn a five thousand new words at once.
